Marvel Project - Runaways

I wanted to draw this team before I even started the comic. Now they're one of my favourite teams in Marvel.

Nico Minoru

Leader of the team and magic user. I used a couple of the outfits she’s worn as a base. While the Runaways change their outfits frequently Nico has a certain style that I made sure to include.

Gertrude Yorkes

One of my favourite members of the team. While powerless she has a psychic bond with Old Lace and is one of the smartest members. A few elements from her design come from the What-If story of the Runaways being the Young Avengers.

Old Lace

The first thing that stood out about the Runaways was that the team included a dinosaur with a nose ring. This Deinonychus despite not being able to talk is still a full fledged member of the team rather than just a pet. She is my favourite member of the team.

Molly Hayes

Or Princess Powerful as she likes to be called. A mutant that has successfully knocked out the Punisher in one punch and sent Wolverine flying out into the street landing face first in the snow (also in one punch). Yes, that is a Jayne hat I’ve drawn her with. She changes her hat almost every chapter. Like Gert some of her outfit is modeled after What-If The Runaways Became The Young Avengers.

Jubilee

Not a member in the comics but I wanted to include her in a team where her powers weren’t seen as pathetic. Here she can be an experienced young hero that is neither too strong or too weak. I gave her and Molly a belt design as they’re the only two who would feel comfortable with a team logo belt. If I ever did anything with this designs I'd consider this a pre-X-Men Jubilee.

Chase Stein (Darkhawk)

If there’s one thing I gave Avengers Arena credit for it’s giving Chase this upgrade. I decided having a Darkhawk Chase for the Runaways would be perfect.

Karolina Dean

Choosing how to colour her was difficult. I found a picture of an Aurora that worked but it was still tricky to edit. I could have drawn her human form but I wanted to show those unaware how her alien form looks.

Victor Mancha

I almost didn’t include him but changed my mind after reading a few chapters with him in I knew he was too important to leave out. I incorporated the fact he’s Ultron’s son into his design, though he takes no pride in that fact I think it works (plus Marvel and DC charactrers model their costumes after people they hate all the time).
